WPC/APC Shirt Rule

"One undershirt (of a design consistent with what is commonly called a T-shirt) with or without sleeves, may be worn under the lifting suit.  It must be an individual article of cloth fabric.  Its construction may consist of multiple plies but must, as a whole, be a singular component.  The thickness(es) shall not be designed to increase, enlarge or enhance the body's natural musculature.  Sleeves must be short and remain above the elbow when worn.  It may be of any color or colors, but shall not portray indecency or be offensive to the spirit of the competition."

Shirts that do not comply with these rules will not be permitted at the APC Nationals or the WPCommittee World Championships in 2004.

APC interpretation of the shirt rule:

The shirt rule quoted above is the same rule that was used in the WPC and USPF/IPF before velcro and open back shirts were used.

The WPCommittee interpretation of the shirt rule allows velcro but the neck has to be the uncut, original neck and the shirt has to close in the back completely.  A shirt that is open at the neck and has foreign material sewn in to close the shirt is not legal.  The shirts can be made of denim and/or any combination of nylon, rayon, cotton, or polyester, with as many plies as you want.  Canvas is not allowed.

We do not endorse any manufacturer's equipment but Inzer's 'Phenom' shirt and Titan's 'Fury' shirt meet WPCommittee/APC rules.  The Phenom is made of polyester, has multiple plies and a stretch back for ease of putting on and adjusting. It has a delivery time of 14 days.  Titan's Fury is single ply with a stretch back.  The Fury has a 4-8 week delivery time. The Phenom is legal in the WPCommittee/APC and the Fury is legal in all federations.  These manufacturers and others also have legal shirts made of denim.
